Ingredients
  

  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 pie crusts dough
  • pumpkin stencils or pumpkin-shaped cookie cutter
  • Blueberry or strawberry jam

  • Prepare the Egg Wash: In a small bowl, mix together the egg and water, and beat well.
  • Roll Out the Dough: Roll out the pie crust dough on a lightly floured surface until it's about 1/4 inch thick.
  • Cut the Shapes: Use a pumpkin-shaped cookie cutter or a sharp knife to cut out shapes from the dough.
  • Fill the Pies: Spoon a small amount of blueberry or strawberry jam (or apple pie filling) onto the center of half of the shapes, leaving a small border around the edges.
  • Seal the Pies: Place the remaining shapes (the ones with eyes and mouth) and place them on top of the filled ones. Press the edges together gently to seal, then use the tines of a fork to create a decorative pattern on the top of each hand pie and ensure a tight seal to secure the lower parts..
  • Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  • Brush with Egg Wash: Brush the tops of the hand pies with the egg wash mixture.
  • Air Fry the Pies: Spray the air fryer basket with nonstick cooking spray. Place the hand pies in the air fryer basket, making sure to leave some space between them for even cooking. Air fry for 6-8 minutes, or until they turn golden brown and crispy. You may need to cook them in batches.
  • Cool and Serve: Once cooked, remove the hand pies from the air fryer and let them cool slightly before serving.
