Dinner Rolls

These soft and fluffy homemade dinner rolls are made with bread flour, eggs, and butter for a rich, tender bite. Perfect for holidays or everyday meals.

Equipment

  • 1 Large bowl 
  • Stand or Hand Mixer Use your hand if unavailable
  • Spatular
  • 2 Baking trays
  • Rolling board Optional - I find this very useful
  • Kitchen towel or plastic wrap

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 medium eggs
  • 5 cups bread flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 cup 1 stick softened butter
  • 2 teaspoons oil

Instructions
 

  • Combine warm milk, yeast, and 1 tsp sugar. Let sit (skip if using instant yeast).
  • Mix in eggs, sugar, flour, and salt for 2 minutes.
  • Knead 2 mins, add butter and knead 4 mins more.
  • Knead at higher speed or by hand until dough is smooth.
  • Transfer to greased bowl, cover, and rise 1–1.5 hrs.
  • Punch down, shape into rolls, place on tray.
  • Cover and rise again for 40–60 mins.
  • Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 18–20 mins until golden.

Notes

  • You can add 50 g powdered milk ½ cup and skip using liquid milk. That will be 1/2 cup powdered milk and 1 cup warm milk.
  • Add ½ cup sugar if desired.
