- For the cookies -
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter softened
- 1 egg
- 1 tsb vanilla
- 3 cup flour
- For the icing -
- 4 cups sugar divided
- 2 Tsb meringue powder
- 2 tsb vanilla divided
- ½-¾ cup water divided
- 2 Tsb corn syrup
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Cream butter and sugar together until smooth.
Add egg and vanilla, mixing well.
Slowly mix in flour until dough forms a ball.
Roll dough to ½ inch thickness, cut out football shapes, and place on baking sheet.
Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are set. Let cool before decorating.
Prepare icing by mixing powdered sugar, meringue powder, and water until thick.
Divide icing, tint some brown, and transfer to piping bags.
Outline cookies with brown icing, allow to set, then add white laces.
