MY PRO tips for the best low-carb pasta Bolognese recipe

  1. Simmering on low heat helps the flavors meld.
  2. Use the cooking instructions if substituting with any other low-carb pasta or pasta alternative.

Ingredients for the best bolognese sauce recipe

Olive oil: Used for sautéing, it’s a healthy fat for keto cooking.

Diced onion: Finely chopped. Onions are essential for adding depth and a subtle sweetness to the sauce.

Garlic cloves, minced: Garlic enhances the overall flavor, giving the sauce that unmistakable Italian aroma.

Ground beef: I use about 1 pound. It’s a great source of protein and adds a rich, meaty flavor to the Bolognese.

tomato sauce or Tomato Paste: I love how this thickens the sauce. It intensifies the tomato flavor without adding too many carbs.

Bay leaves

Tortillas (0-2 net carbs)

Swiss cheese or parmesan cheese: For garnishing. It adds a salty, nutty flavor that completes the dish.

Italian Seasoning: This blend of herbs complements the meat and tomato flavors beautifully.

Salt and pepper to taste

Keto Pasta: I went for the low-carbohydrate tortillas and got one labeled 0 carbohydrates.

Fresh Basil: A small handful, chopped. Basil brings a fresh, aromatic touch to the dish.

Chili flakes – for extra heat

How to make the Keto Spaghetti Bolognese

Cook the Meat: Pour oil into a skillet and heat it up on a medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic. Cook them until transparent with constant stirring. Place the ground meat and paprika and cook until whitened, breaking up any lumps.

Add Aromatics: Stir in the onion and garlic, cooking until the onion is translucent.

Simmer the Sauce: Pour the tomato sauce and a couple of spoonfuls of water into the skillet. Simmer the sauce over low heat for about 10 minutes. The sauce should become smooth and thicken. Add salt and pepper to taste. While the sauce is simmering, bring a pot of salted water to a boil on high heat with the bay leaf and garlic

Prepare Keto Pasta: Stack the tortillas on each other and roll them up into a roll.

With clean scissors, cut them into thin strips similar to fettuccini. Lay the tortilla strips on a sieve in small batches and drop them into boiling water for 20 seconds.

The strips will become soft and chewy. Place pasta on a plate to serve; drizzle with olive oil to prevent sticking. Spread the Bolognese sauce and sprinkle with cheese and parmesan.

Combine (optional):  You can skip this step if you are not interested in combining the cause with the pasta. Toss the cooked pasta with the Bolognese sauce.

Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle freshly grated Parmesan and basil over the top and serve warm.

Your dish is ready. Enjoy it guilt-free.
