With Valentine’s Day approaching, I’m excited to share a sweet treat, the Valentine’s Day chocolate covered pretzels recipe, with you all. These delightful treats strike the perfect balance between salty and sweet, making them an irresistible gift for your loved ones (or a delicious treat for yourself!).

I wanted a twist, so I didn’t coat all over the pretzels. The chocolate coatings is just on one side of these Valentine pretzels, making these a tasty treat.

This recipe is one of the easiest way(s) to enjoy Valentine chocolate in the comfort of your home without a trip to your local stores.

Super easy recipe – This will make a first-time project as it is easy to follow and customize to make this a special treat.

Ingredients

Pretzels – I made this using pretzels with salt and poppy seeds for the extra yummy taste. You can substitute with any other forms.

White chocolate –

Chocolate bar

Coconut shavings

Almond flakes – The extra crunchy taste makes this a treat.

Valentine sprinkles

Food coloring or any other Valentine’s Day colors. 

Coconut Oil – this prevents the chocolate from freezing quickly and gives a smooth effect.

How to Make Valentine’s Day Chocolate covered pretzels

Step 1 – Prep the Pretzels: Line a wooden tray or baking sheet with parchment paper or Cling film and lay the pretzels on it.

Step 2 – Melt the Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the dark chocolate and a teaspoon of coconut oil in 30-second intervals, stirring each time. 

  • Pour the liquid chocolate into a syringe or culinary pipette. Fill the middle of the pretzels with melted chocolate dark chocolate. 
  • Melt the White Chocolate: Repeat the melting process with the white chocolate.
  • Pour in the pink coloring and stir. Pour the liquid chocolate into a syringe or culinary pipette. Fill the middle of the pretzels with pink chocolate.
  • Fill in the excess chocolate. Sprinkle the Valentine sprinkles and white chocolate chips over the hot chocolate. 

Step 3 – Drizzle with Love: Sprinkle almonds and coconut shavings, and drizzle white chocolate on the chocolate before it hardens.

Step 4 – Set: Let the pretzels sit until the chocolate hardens, about 30 minutes.

Chill the chocolate pretzels in the refrigerator for an hour. Gently lift the treats away from the food wrap and transfer them to a plate to serve.

Enjoy or Gift: Serve these beauties to your loved ones or package them up for a sweet Valentine’s Day gift.

The pretzels turn out very tasty and sweet with a different texture. They look bright and romantic. Enjoy!

Substitutes

  • Pretzelz: Any other type of pretzel will do – mini pretzels, pretzel twists or go for .Pretzel Rods
  • Chocolate: Substitute dark chocolate with white chocolate, milk chocolate, or semi-sweet chocolate, which can be used for a sweeter taste.
  • Sprinkles: Try colored sugar or edible glitter for a different decorative effect.
  • Coconut Oil: Vegetable oil or shortening can be used as an alternative.

If using pretzel rods, dip and decorate: Dip each pretzel rod into the melted dark chocolate, coating about ¾ of the way. Lay them on the parchment paper and sprinkle them with red and pink sprinkles.

Can I make these in advance?

The pretzels can be stored at room temperature, preferably in a cookie tin. The chocolate is quite stable and will not melt.

Absolutely! Store them in an airtight container or ziploc bag, and they’re good for up to 2 weeks.

How do I prevent the chocolate from seizing?

Be careful not to get water in the chocolate when melting; use coconut oil to keep it smooth.

Can I make these gluten-free?
